LEASING LAND

FOR SOLAR FARM

CHERRY VALLEY – Cherry Valley-Springfield Central School voters today authorized the school board, 119-83, to negotiate with a Boston developer, Omni Navitas, to build a solar farm on 25 acres near the high school.

“I thought it was going to be a close vote,” Supt. of Schools TheriJo Climenhaga said a few minutes ago.  “I’m pleased with the overall outcome.”

The school board has the authority to lease land for up to 10 years, but Omni is seeking 25-year lease, and that required a referendum vote.

The superintendent said negotiations on the particulars of an agreement will begin next week between the school board and the company.

Stocking, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on May 17, 2023 at the age of 100.  Virginia was born in Cooperstown on December 2, 1922 to Earl and Catherine Richards.
