Despite Deluge, 700 At Harvest Fest
On Saturday. Imagine Crowd Today
COOPERSTOWN – Despite Saturday’s downpour, 700 showed up for the annual Harvest Festival at The Farmers’ Museum, so you can imagine the crowd today.
All parking lots were filled, and cars lined both sides of Route 80 all the way to the village line.
Among attendees were:
• Above, from left, Savanna Mayton, Richfield Springs, and Maggie Sherman and Megan Kern, both of Cooperstown, volunteers in 19th century garb.
• At right, folks were having a good time, but few were as expressive about it as Mariana Pokorny, 8 months, seen here with dad Tim.
• Inset is Bernd J. Krause of Johnson City, showing off his dulcimers. After his wife saw a dulcimer for the first time as a Dolly Parton concert 36 years ago, she wanted one, and Bernd took a book out of the local library and built her one himself. Now, his dulcimers are so sought-after Dolly Parton’s band uses one.
