Oneonta native and retired teacher Donald H. Dockstader, 95, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Tidewell Hospice.

Born on December 1, 1919 in Oneonta he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. A graduate of Oswego State College with his Master’s degree in industrial arts; Don was a teacher for Gloversville High School and Johnstown NY Fulton Montgomery Community College. After 30 years he retired to Englewood. A resident of Englewood for 28 years coming from Gloversville, he was a member of the Englewood United Methodist Church.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth in 2004.

Survivors include two daughters: Ann Shaw of Englewood, FL; Donna Monsen of St. James, NY; two sons: Garth of Lusby, MD; Glenn of Watervliet; 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta from 9:30 to 11:00 am. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 am with the Rev. Randy Palada Pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be held in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
