IN MEMORIAM: Donna Jean Mullinex, 65;
‘Community Mom’ To Family, Many Friends
MILFORD – Donna Jean Mullinex, 65, “community mom” to her loved ones, passed away at 9:32 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019.
Born Feb. 4, 1954, Donna was a 1973 graduate of Livingston Manor High School. Soon to become a wife and loving mother, she moved to the Oneonta area and worked for many years at Kmart, but to Donna the most satisfying work was just being the forever “community mom.” The many birthday parties, barbecues and family get togethers she hosted were always fun, well attended and full of love. She would run herself ragged making all of us feel welcome in her home.
She was adored and cared for by her first and only love, husband of 45 years, Tom “Pop” Mullinex. She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Jessica Mullinex of Cooperstown and the loves of her life, grandsons Austin and Cecil Mullinex along with her step-mother Thelma Clapper. Donna shared a unique bond with her loving big sister Beverly Wyckoff of Newport, NC., her always humorous brothers, George, Kim, Timothy and Walter Clapper and her sisters Angel Ferguson and Cindy Donaldson who were also a constant source of laughter. Donna also loved and often cared for her many nieces, nephews and friends of the family.
She left the hands of her loving family iintoto the arms of her awaiting mother Charlotte Kleingardner, father Walter Clapper and oldest brother Walter Clapper.
Donna also loved her animals like they were her children, often referring to them as her “fur babies”, so in lieu of flowers and cards the family is requesting any size donations be made to “Super Heroes in Ripped Jeans”, 697 Winney Hill Road, Oneonta, NY 13820 as she often supported the many non-profit pet care facilities in the area and would be honored to know she could have one more chance to help.
Donna will be forever loved and so deeply missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
A funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz Street in Oneonta with the Rev. Keith VanDewerker, retired, officiating.
Calling hours will be from 2:00 p.m. until the service time at 4:00 p.m.
Burial will take place at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery at a later date.
