Worked At Oneonta Dress, Greenleaf
MARYLAND – Esther M. Vogel, 79, of Maryland, who worked at Oneonta Dress Factory, then Schenevus’ Greenleaf Dollhouse Factory, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019, at the Fox Nursing Home, Oneonta.
She was born on Sept. 24, 1939, in Oneonta, the daughter of the late Frederick and Mildred (Weaver) Loucks. Esther married Karl E. Vogel November of 1957, in Oneonta. Karl predeceased her on April 22, 2018.
At Oneonta Dress, Esther was a lay-up person, laying up patterns for the sewers, before joining Greenleaf as an assembler.
Esther is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Aimee Vogel of Oneonta; four granddaughters, Kitana, Leia, Miranda and Natalia; one sister, Thelma Harrison of West Oneonta; one brother, Gerald (Angie) Loucks of Otego; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rose and Tony Lombardo of Schenevus, Marie and Raymond Ballard of Sidney and Elaine Loucks Eldred of Maryland; one brother-in-law, James Welch of Milford; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by two daughters, Patricia and Connie Vogel; two sisters, Hilda Hanson and Doris Welch; three brothers, Glen, William and Clayton Loucks; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Harrison and Julian Hanson.
A calling hour will be 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, April 4, at Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Mel Farmer officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Maryland Cemetery.
