Faso Won’t Rule Out
Another Run In 19th
In Final Interview, Nor Would He Rule It In
On his last day as 19th District congressman, John Faso, R-Kinderhook, would not rule out running for Congress again in 2020 – but he wouldn’t rule it in either.
In his final Congressional Corner interview with WAMC President Alan Chartock, Faso replied in response to a direct question, “I’m not anticipating it, but I never say never.”
It’s a New Year, continued, “and I don’t even know what I’m doing next week.”

During the course of the 10-minute interview, Faso, who represented Otsego as well as several other counties in the 19th, spoke against making state legislators full-time positions and prohibiting outside income, noting having a job outside politics better connects with with the general public.
A former state Senate minority leader and gubernatorial candidate, he also said he’s proud of the constituent service he was able to provide, or serving as a major sponsor of a bill barring Fentanyl from being sent through the mails, and his effort to bring the state’s construction-site liability law, which uniquely increases the cost construction in-state, into line with national norms.
Chartock introduced him as “retiring” from Congress. Faso thanked the interviewer for his “kindness,” but pointed out that he was defeated in the Nov. 6 election. His successor, Democrat Antonio Delgado, assumes the office on New Year’s Day.
