FBI Advises Oneonta Police
Of Election-Related Threats
ONEONTA – The FBI contacted the Oneonta Police Department over the weekend after threatening posts were made on Facebook by a man with an Oneonta address.
“The posts were saying how we need to protect our Second Amendment rights, how guns weren’t just for hunting animals, that sort of thing,” said Lt. Douglas Brenner.
“Some FBI agents traced his last known address to Oneonta, so they were asking if we’d had any interactions with him. He wasn’t on our radar,” he said.
Brenner believed the FBI agents spoke with the man, but no arrests were made.
