Felony Counts Off The Table
For 4 Focus Neglect Suspects
FLY CREEK – The three former Focus employees facing felony charges in Memorial Day Weekend neglect case a Focus at Otsego nursing home will plead guilty to misdemeanors on Dec. 21 in Otsego Town Court, Assistant Attorney General Kathleen Boland said today.
A fourth woman, who was charged with a misdemeanor, will also plead guilty at that time, the prosecutor said on appearing before Otsego Town Justice Gary Kuch this afternoon.
Two of the suspects facing felony charges – Lorraine Caldwell, 54, Holland Patent, and Sarah Schuyler, 29 – appeared in court today. The third charged with a felony is Amanda Gus, 30, Hartwick. The suspect charged only with a misdemeanor is Donna Gray, 48, Sidney.
If the plea bargains stand, the case of a 94-year-old being left untended in a chair for 41 hours will be resolved.
There is absolutely no excuse for anyone to abuse the elderly. Human beings don’t deserve this type of treatment no matter what. The abusers should get exactly what they deserve. When one works at a facility such as The Focus, you agree the day that you are hired that you will do your job. Apparently, the abusers had better things to do with their time. They should not get away with this.
