In Memoriam: Fred Driggs, 67; Amphenol Electric Truck Driver
ONEONTA – Frederick B. “Fred” Driggs, 67, of Oneonta, an electric truck driver at Amphenol in Sidney for 34 years, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Fox Hospital. Fred was born on Feb. 19, 1947, in Johnson City, the son of the late Edward and Ruth (Clark) Driggs. He married Patricia A. Grant on Jan. 8, 1984 in Oneonta. He attended Aldrich Baptist Church in North Franklin. He loved all sports and was an avid Yankees fan. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He would spend time at his cottage at Sylvan Beach and when not there, he would rent it so others may enjoy it. He loved music. His favorite was old time rock and roll including Led Zeppelin, Lynard Skynard and other bands from that era. Fred is survived by his wife of 30 years, Patricia A. Driggs of Oneonta; his sons, Michael B. Driggs and his girlfriend, Tara Doring of Franklin and James L. Thomas IV and his fiancé Angela VaLante of Franklin. Also, his grandchildren, Matthew A. and Madison B. Driggs and Alyssa, Alexa and Brianna Thomas as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Fred was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Nathan and Donald Driggs. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home. Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 30, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to OHS Yellowjackets Gold Football Team; his grandson Matthew is a member.
