Cooperstown’s Matt Schuermann, Scott Whiteman and Mike Niles playfully lament as Maegan Whiteman’s ball narrowly misses the 8th hole during the “Friends Helping Friends” golf tournament on Saturday. The tournament, which hosted around 145 golfers at the Colonial Ridge Golf Course, is to benefit Matthew Hazzard, Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce executive director, who is fighting non-Hodgkins lymphona.  The day ended with a celebratory dinner at the Fly Creek Sportsmen’s Club. (Ian Austin/ allotsego.com)

News Briefs: June 6, 2024 Coop Sends Two to State Meet COOPERSTOWN—Juniors Annelise Jensen and Cooper Bradley will represent Cooperstown at the state track and field championships at Cicero-North Syracuse beginning on Friday, June 7. Jensen won the girls 800m finals by nearly a second in 2:22.32 at the qualifier meet on Thursday, May 30 and placed third in the 1,500m. Bradley finished first in boys high jump with a mark of 6 feet, 2 inches.
