IN MEMORIAM: Giancarlo Giacomelli, 77;

Furniture Refinisher Since Arriving In U.S.

CHERRY VALLEY – Giancarlo Giacomelli, a furniture refinisher since arriving from Bagni di Lucca, Italy, in 1958, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017, with his loving family by his side.  A daughter survives in Oneonta.

Giancarlo was born Oct. 21, 1939, in Grenoble, France, to the late Ernesto Giacomelli and Anna Giusti. He married Renata Feci on Sept 26., 1965, in The Bronx.

In the U.S., Giancarlo loved skiing with his family every weekend in the winter and working around the house.  Giancarlo led a path to prosper and grow his children to where they are today.

He is survived by his wife Renata and children Adriana Giordano of Wappingers Falls, Alexsandro  Giacomelli (Jennifer) of Oneonta and Daniela Giacomelli (Chris VanCour) of Baldwinsville. Giancarlo‘s brother Alvaro (Elieen) and many nieces and nephews.   The joy of his life was his grandchildren Austin Giordano, Nicholas and Isabella Giacomelli and Gianlucca and Marco VanCour.

Calling hours will be noon-2 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.Sunday, April 9, at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.  The funeral service will at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas The Apostle Church of Cherry Valley or Susquehanna SPCA.
