IN MEMORIAM: Harold Stevens, 91;

Father Of 7 Operated Family Farm

Harold H. Stevens, 91, of Franklin, a father of seven who operated a family farm, passed away Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Harold was born on Sept. 25, 1924, in Worcester, the son of the late Howard and Pearl (Banks) Stevens. He married Leona I. Walley, who predeceased him on Jan. 8, 2013.

He worked as a car reconditioner for Mohawk Plymouth & Chrysler in Cooperstown. Prior to that, he worked for Ecklunds Saw Mill, Scintilla in Sidney and Timberland Charcoal Plant in Stamford. After his father passed away he took over running the family farm. He was the personal taxi driver for his family.

Harold is survived by seven children, Harvey (Mary Sue) Banks of Schenevus, Clifford (Janice) Banks of Schenevus, Ezelda Banks of Oneonta, Ford (Jeanie) Banks of Davenport, Jake (Margaret) Banks of Westford, John (Margaret) Banks of Morris and LaVerne (Paula) Morrell of Franklin.

He is also survived by his brother Bill Stevens of Franklin; his sister, Margaret “Peggy” Hilsinger of Saratoga Springs; his brother, Donald (Karen) Wilsey of Sharon Springs; his brother, Paul Wilsey of Sharon Springs and his sister, Marion Wilsey; as well as 25 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is predeceased by his six siblings, Clara May, Mary, Susie, Mabel, Howard and Harry.

There will be no calling hours or services at this time. Burial will be at a later date in the Ouleout Valley Cemetery in Franklin.
