IN MEMORIAM: Heather Hotaling, 53;
Graduate, Manager At SUNY Oneonta
ONEONTA – Heather T. Hotaling, 53, who graduated from SUNY Oneonta and then worked there for 30 years, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Bassett Hospital.
She was born on June 10, 1964 in Ridgewood, N.J., the daughter of John O. and Nancy E. (Scarr) Thompson. She married Glenn R. Hotaling on July 27, 1985, at the First Presbyterian Church in Oneonta.
A graduate of Oneonta High School, Heather received a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oneonta, where she then worked for almost 30 years as a billing and collections manager in the Student Accounts Office.
Generous and loving at heart, Heather was always putting others before herself. She enjoyed camping, spending time with her horses and pets, experimenting with new recipes, crafts, games and puzzles, and above all else, spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn R. Hotaling of Oneonta; two daughters, Kelly L. (Hotaling) and Matthew Coolbaugh of Troy, Pa., and Megan E. Hotaling of Oneonta; her father, John O. Thompson of Franklin; siblings, Glenn S. and Jane Thompson of Sloatsburg, Janet (Thompson) and Francis “Chip” Thomas of Sunderland, Mass, and Jean (Thompson) and Dale Ray Downing of Franklin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth R. Thompson; and her mother, Nancy S. Thompson.
Calling ours are 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta. A funeral service is planned at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at First Presbyterian Church, 296 Main St., Oneonta, with Rev. Mark E. Montfort officiating.
Burial will follow in Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin.
