Hello Freeman’s Journal- We took a hot air balloon flight over cooperstown and the lake while visiting my parents for the 4th of July- my parents (Judith and Kip Coburn) thought you may like some photos-some are from the balloon chasers, some from the balloon itself….  feel free to contact me if you’d like more info or any high resolution images- Cheers! -Kyla Coburn
Kyla Coburn, daughter of Judith and Kip Coburn of Woodbull Antiques, Milford, was visiting her parents over the Fourth of July Weekend (during Woodbull’s annual Antiques Show) and took a hot-air balloon flight over Cooperstown and Otsego Lake.  Here, of course, is the Sleeping Lion and Kingfisher Tower.  “Some are from the balloon chasers, some from the balloon itself,” she writes.  Beautiful.  Thanks, Kyla.

Henry “Hank” Phillips of Cooperstown died peacefully Saturday, August 31, 2024. The only child of Henry J. and Laura M. Phillips (née Tierney), Hank was born December 12, 1934 in Pittston, Pennsylvania and raised in Amsterdam, New York. Upon graduating high school, Hank attended the Albany College of Pharmacy, receiving his degree in 1957.…

When Iron String Press received the first e-mail from a concerned citizen who said they knew nothing about the Village of Cooperstown’s plans to install a cantilevered viewing platform at the terminus of Pioneer Street, we were surprised. It was not news to us, because we had covered the village’s NY Forward $4.5 million grant process from beginning to end, and the viewing platform was one of a number of projects being considered for funding.…
