In Just 10 Days,

203 COVID Cases

COOPERSTOWN – Otsego County reported 20 new cases of COVID-19 today, putting the number of confirmed cases for the first 10 days of month over 200, Public Health Director Heidi Bond reported today.

Additionally, 745 people are on mandatory quarantine after coming in contact with a person who has tested positive. 17 people remain hospitalized, with four in the ICU.

Bond has said that outbreaks at bars and restaurants spurred the spike, as did Thanksgiving gatherings.

  1. In my observation, contact tracing is not adequate in either Otsego County or NYS. Known contacts have never been contacted by the pertinent Health Departments, who in any case are impossible to reach directly by phone. Bassett has failed to follow up in returning a call from a contact person. Contacts seem to be identified by the County DOH as the persons who should notify the NYS Dept. of Health, as per an e-mail reply to my query from the Otsego Co. DOH. This is not sound epidemiology and should be reviewed.
