ONEONTA – Jim Baldo, 67, well known in Oneonta for his business ventures in radio, real estate and restaurants, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2015, at home, surrounded by his family.

James A. Baldo was born on Nov. 16, 1947, in Oneonta, the son of “Pat” Pasquo and Ida (DaDario) Baldo.

A graduate of Oneonta High School, Jim received his bachelor’s in political science from SUNY Oneonta in 1971.  He moved to Boston as a sales associate for Raleigh Bicycle, beginning a 25-year corporate career in sales and marketing that took him around the world.

Jim returned to Oneonta in 1998 where his business interests included Banjo Radio Group, The Clinton Plaza and various restaurants, including Fiesta and the Italian Kitchen.

He was a passionate believer in Oneonta and its economic base and worked tirelessly to promote his businesses and the people they served.  His boundless energy, creativity, and endless generosity will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his wife Jacki Hunt of Oneonta; his four children, Jessica Baldo Riggio of Miami and her husband Rocco, and their sons Rocco Jr., and Massimo, Joshua Baldo of Oneonta and his son Jonah; Steva Jeremias of Boston, and Jordan Jeremias of Oneonta; and Therese Heckman, mother of Jessica and Joshua.

Jim is also survived by his sister Marguerite Baldo Johnson of Oneonta, nephew James Johnson of Cooperstown and his wife Amy, and niece Rebecca Johnson Carrington and husband Wayne of Oneonta; and their families.

A funeral mass will be at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, in St. Mary’s Church, Oneonta, with the Rev. Scott VanDerveer officiating.  Private interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 from 4 to 7 PM at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta, at which time the family will be in attendance.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Dept. FH, Oneonta, New York 13820
