IN MEMORIAM: Wilfred J. Ennis, Cooperstown

COOPERSTOWN – Wilfred (Bill) J. Ennis, who retired from a career in insurance, passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, after a long battle with multiple chronic conditions.

A cardiac condition forced Bill into early retirement and he moved to Cooperstown with his wife of almost 60 years, Mildred.

Retirement provided more time to listen to jazz, read and discuss politics, and watch the Jets.

A veteran of the Korean War, he often spoke of his time in the military and how it formed him, changed him, and was always a part of him.

He always wanted to make an impact on the world, and for his son and wife that goal was realized. He is survived by his only child, William Ennis, a physician in Chicago, and his wife Mildred, with whom he would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this November.

Bill also is survived by son Bill and his wife, Mary,  granddaughter Gabrielle, a student at Cornell, and Liam, 17, a high school student, all of Chicago.

Per his wishes, there was no service or funeral.  Instead of flowers or gifts we would suggest a gift in his name to, the Korean War Veterans Association/Membership Office, PO Box 407, Charleston, IL   61920-0407.

Tillapaugh Funeral Service in Cooperstown assisted with the arrangements.
