IN MEMORIAM: Jack Hazen, Sr., 78;
GM Supervisor Before Moving Here
SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Jack Albert Hazen, Sr., 78, a supervisor at the General Motors plant in Clark, N.J., before moving here in 1982, passed away in the comfort of his home with his loving wife, children and grandchildren by his side on the morning of Jan. 6, 2019.
Jack was born on Oct. 19, 1940, in Phillipsburg, N.J., a son of the late Marinus Peters and Bertha (Reigel) Hazen. On Feb. 7, 1959, he married the love of his life, the former Roseann Richheimer.
They lived in Edison, N.J., and started their life and family of four children. Together, in 1982 they relocated to South New Berlin where they would leave a legacy of great family, friends and memories.
He was employed for many years at General Motors in Clark, N.J., as a supervisor.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing baseball and football, farming, racing his 1941 flathead Ford stock car and playing in a General Motors company softball league.
Jack was an avid outdoorsman that could always be found working in his vegetable and flower gardens or tinkering with something in the yard. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, target shooting, reloading and took great pride in teaching his children and grandchildren these skills.
He was also fan of boxing, Nascar racing, reading military and western novels and enjoyed military history. Jack will be remembered as a huge Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan that rarely took his #3 cap off. He had a love for all cars, but enjoyed his Monte Carlo the most.
Jack was the epitome of hard work and always put his wife and family first. He treated everyone with kindness and welcomed them into his home as if they were part of the family.
