IN MEMORIAM: Jane S. Wetmore, 89;
Worked Half-Century At Wilber Bank
ONEONTA – Jane S. Wetmore, 89, familiar to customers at Wilber National Bank for 50 years, passed away Nov. 27, 2018, at Fox Hospital.
She was born Jan. 10, 1929, at home in Oneonta, to Leo and Jane (Woody) Signor. Telford Street was her first home. She lived there with her brother, Joseph Signor and sister, Mary Signor Klubko, both whom have predeceased her.
They are survived by Kitty Signor Townsend and Chris Klubko Kellish, who will miss their aunt dearly.
Jane started working at Wilber National Bank when she was still a teenager. In those early days, people would wait in line for a teller and she had to count out money quickly and manually. She made cherished friendships with the people she worked with and with her customers, many who would wait in line specially for her. She continued to work at Wilber for 50 years.
Jane married Cecil Wetmore on May 18, 1951 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oneonta. They moved to the only other house she would know on Cozy Avenue for all these 60 years since. Cecil predeceased her on April 6, 1992.
She was a member of the St. Mary’s Rosary Society and the Oneonta’s Business Women’s Club.
Jane is survived by four loving children, Mary Logan of Oneonta, Thomas Wetmore of Oneonta, James (Belinda) Wetmore of Roseville, Calif., and Paul (Blanca) Wetmore of San Jose, Calif.; grandchildren, Sarah Logan (Van) Nguyen, Emily Logan and Jeremy Wetmore; a great-grandson, Terrence Nguyen.
Jane was loved by many and will be missed by all.
A graveside service at Mount Calvary Cemetery will be announced later this spring.
