Of Hall’s First Timers

NB_HOF_logoCOOPERSTOWN – Ken Griffey Jr., 13-time All-Star, 10-time Gold Glove Award winner and 1997 American League Most Valuable Player, is among 15 first-time candidates on the Baseball Writers Association of America 2016 ballot released a few minutes ago.

Seven-time All-Star closer and owner of 601 saves Trevor Hoffman and eight-time Gold Glove Award-winner Jim Edmonds are among the other newcomers.

Rounding out the list of first-time candidates area Garret Anderson, Brad Ausmus, Luis Castillo, David Eckstein, Troy Glaus, Mark Grudzielanek, Mike Hampton, Jason Kendall, Mike Lowell, Mike Sweeney, Billy Wagner and Randy Winn.

Piper Seamon 5th CCS Girl To Hit High Mark The Cooperstown Central student section erupts as Piper Seamon scores her 1,000th career point in the Hawkeyes’ 57-39 win over Waterville at home last evening. Seamon becomes the fifth girl and only the 14th player in school history overall to score 1,000 points.  Inset at right, Pipershares a hug with teammate Meagan Schuermann after the game was stopped to acknowledge her achievement.
