RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Laura J. Duncan-Bachanas, 39, of Bronner Street, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at Bassett Hospital. She had the comfort of her loving family by her side at the time of passing.
Laura was born on Feb. 8, 1979, in Cooperstown. She was raised by her mother Peggy Roberts Dziadik and her step-father Thomas Dziadik. A lifelong area resident, she was educated in Richfield Springs Schools and she had attended Herkimer County Community College.
For the last 12 years Laura was a registration specialist at Bassett Hospital.
On May 20, 2017, she married Michael Bachanas in Schuyler Lake.
As an extremely gifted athlete, in High School, Laura played Field Hockey, Basketball, Softball and ran Cross Country, later in life sharing that gift with others by coaching Little LeagueSoftball. She loved fishing, Michael and Laura would go fishing a couple times a week at their favorite watering hole in Allen Lake.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Richfield Springs American Legion Post 616.
Laura was an amazing person who cared for everyone by putting others before herself. Her greatest joy in life was a very special daughter Paige, Paige was her “#1”. She was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.
Surviving her besides her husband Michael, her parents Peggy and Tom Dziadik are her daughter Paige Cooper of Richfield Springs, her brother Kenneth Duncan of Ilion her twin sister Leah Duncan of Richfield Springs, several nieces, nephews and cousins, and last to mention her handsome boy Jax, her beloved puppy.
A funeral was held Friday, Jan. 18, in the J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Mark Ioset of the Church of Christ Uniting to officiate.
