IN MEMORIAM: Leonard Dabreau, 79;
Retired To Family Farm In Hartwick
HARTWICK – Leonard D. Dabreau Jr, 79, of Davenport, Fla., who formerly had retired to the family farm in Hartwick, passed away on Saturday June 17, 2017, at his home in Florida.
Leonard was born in Bronx, NY on June 14, 1938, the son of the late Leonard D. Sr and Anna Phillipavage Dabreau. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School before attending Alfred State University. Leonard spent the next 30 plus years building what was the largest independent elevator service and repair company in New York City, Archer Elevator. He operated the company until his retirement in 2000.
Following retirement, Leonard moved to the family farm in Hartwick. He spent many hours repairing or building barns to accommodate his horses. In the 70’s, Leonard was a competitive Team Roper, and never lost his interest in horses.
Leonard is survived by his sons Dave (Bev) Dabreau of Davenport, Fla., Lenny (Donna) Dabreau of Farmingdale, N.J., his daughter Sue (Mike) Transberg of Wall, N.J., his brother Richard (Val) Dabreau of Hartwick, 10 grandchildren Nicole, Christie, David, Bryan, Dawson, Mikayla, Amy, Amanda, Genevieve, and Mackenzie, one great grandchild Liam, Many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by brothers Bob, and Paul, and niece Jean Dabreau Handler.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday June 23, at the Delker & Terry Funeral Home 30 South Street Edmeston, N.Y. Interment will follow in Laurens Cemetery, Laurens, NY. Friends may call from 9-11:00 A.M. prior to services at the funeral home.
