ONEONTA – Lt. Ashley Mineard has been appointed assistant corps officer at the Oneonta Salvation Army, Maj. Ronald Foreman, divisional commander of the Empire State Division, covering Upstate New York, announced today.

She will be working with Maj. Sharon Harford, commanding officer of the Oneonta Salvation Army.

“We welcome Lieutenant Mineard to our Empire State Division. We want all of our officers be active and involved in their new community, and with God’s grace, addressing and helping to solve unmet needs” added Major Foreman.

Lieutenant Mineard was commissioned and ordained as a Salvation Army minister two years ago. She is a graduate of the Salvation Army College for Officer Training in Suffern.

Her first appointment was as the assistant corps officer at the Johnstown, Pa., Salvation Army. She is from Beaver Falls, Pa.

The Oneonta Salvation Army provides many services for those in need and those looking for a spiritual home. On Sunday’s at 4 p.m., the Army offers a meal with a message. The food pantry is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are fellowship meetings for men, women and seniors each week, along with Bible study classes and a Kid’s Club each Wednesday at 4 p.m., weekly youth music night, a teen and young adult group and vacation Bible school during the summer.

Emergency and Christmas assistance is available. The Oneonta Salvation Army sends area children and teens to the Army’s residential camp in the Finger Lakes for a week of summer fun.

On Sunday, there are prayer meetings, Sunday School and a Holiness meeting at 11 a.m. The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church.
