Lying Inspires Poetry,

Erica Jong Declares

Poetry is “the opposite of lying,” “Fear of Flying” novelist Erica Jong said during a “Conversation with Jean Hanff Korelitz,” the final event of the third annual Sharon Spring Poetry Festival Saturday evening.   Thus, the Trump Administration has sparked “a burst of poetry.”  “We have so much lying going on that people want the truth,” said Jong, whose 1973 novel made her a national figure and spokesperson for the women’s movement.  “People are hungry to read about what people really feel and what life really is.” (Jennifer Hill/AllOTSEGO.com)
