Born On Christmas Day

Harper Rey Newkirk

COOPERSTOWN – A Madison County baby was identified as the second birth at Bassett Hospital on Christmas Day.

Harper Rey Newkirk, daughter of Shannon and Zakary Newkirk, Hamilton,  was born at 9:31 a.m. on Christmas, a month earlier than expected.

The first Christmas baby, Arielle Ross of Sidney, was born at at 5:56 a.m

“We were shocked and ecstatic she came on Christmas morning!” said mom Shannon.

Harper is 6 pounds, 13.7 ounces, and 19 inches long. Mom and daughter are doing well.
