IN MEMORIAM: Matthew J. Dobler, 54;

Chief Of Maintenance At Fox Hospital

Matt Dobler

MOUNT VISION – Matthew J. Dobler, 54, Fox Hospital’s chief of maintenance, passed away suddenly on July 17, 2019, at the hospital.

He was born Jan. 7, 1965, in Oneonta, the son of William J. and Eileen T. (McCabe) Dobler.  Matt graduated from Laurens Central School and Mohawk Valley Community College.

He married Teresa DeSilva on Aug. 10, 1996, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oneonta.

Matt worked for Taggart Electric for 10 years before joining Fox.

Matt loved old cars, trains, and steam engines.  He was very talented in restoring different types of vehicles and could fix just about anything.  He was also a great cook.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Matt dedicated his heart and soul to taking care of his friends and family whom he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Dobler; their children, Katherine Dobler and James Dobler; his siblings, William E. Dobler, Timothy Dobler and Kim Loftus, and Mary and Frank Flatley; nephews, Joseph Flatley, Andrew Flatley, Zachary Dobler and Michael Flatley.

He was predeceased by his parents, and an infant sister, Cecilia.

Calling hours are 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.

The funeral mass will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 39 Walnut St., Oneonta, with Father David Mickiewicz as celebrant.

Burial will follow at the Mount Vision Cemetery.
