1,000th Baby At Bassett 

Maverick James Johnson, seen here with mom, Paula Waffle and nurse Jessica Barrett, was the 1,000th baby born this year at the Bassett Birthing Center.

COOPERSTOWN – Parents Paula Waffle, Eric Johnson and the staff at the Bassett Birthing Center welcomed Maverick James Johnson, the 1,000th baby born at the center in 2017, on Tuesday, Dec. 19.

Maverick was born at 3:57 p.m. Tuesday, weighing 8 lbs, 10 oz, 21 inches long. Though born with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck, he was able to stay at the birthing center for the first few days of his care, rather than being transported to Albany.
