IN MEMORIAM: Wava H. Cuyler, 91;

Taught In Oneonta Schools 28 Years

Wava H. Cuyler

ONEONTA – Wava Hatcher Cuyler, 91, who taught Oneonta children for 28 years, retiring in 1984 from Center Street School, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday July 13, 2017 in Oneonta. She was surrounded by a host of loving family members.

Wava was born in Oneonta on April 7, 1926, to Marvin and Edna (Lowe) Hatcher. She was educated at Bugbee School, Oneonta High School, and the State Teachers College at Old Main. She married George William Cuyler, Jr. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, 1944, at St. James’ Episcopal Church.
