lead Outlaws over Dragons
STAFF REPORT • Special to www.AllOTSEGO.com
Oneonta batters chased Glens Falls pitcher Matt Chase from the game in the fifth inning as the Outlaws won at home, 10-4, in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game Wednesday, June 23, at Damaschke Field in Oneonta.
The Outlaws scored eight runs in the three middle innings, after the Dragons took a 3-1 lead after three.
Chase had breezed through the Oneonta lineup the first time around, giving up just a run, but the Outlaws caught up to him in the fourth and fifth innings, ultimately pounding him for seven earned runs.
Oneonta pitchers had better success late. Starter Kyle Locklear gave up three runs early, but then pitched three scoreless innings before giving way to Gilboa graduate Cole Fancher. Fancher gave up two hits and a walk, but struck out four batters and gave up no runs to help preserve the win for Locklear and the Outlaws.
Jacob Hand went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored for Oneonta, which also got two runs scored by leadoff hitter Paul Tammaro.
Oneonta (5-10) is scheduled to play at Saugerties at 7:05 p.m., Thursday, June 24.
