HOMELAND SECURITY SEES NEED
Milford Fightfighters Awarded
$120,000 For 18 New Air Packs
MILFORD – The Village of Milford fire department has been awarded $120,000 to replace its aging air packs, U.S. Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced today.
The money is provided by the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistant to Firefighters’ Grant Program.
Second Assistant Fire Chief Damon West said the department’s SCBAs (self-contained breathing apparatuses) are 15 years old and cost $7,000 a piece to replace. He said the grant will allow the department to buy $18,000 of the devices.
