CATTOWN – The body of a 60-year-old woman missing since March 1 was located behind her home this morning in an area where snow drifts were recently several feet deep, Sheriff Richard J. Devlin Jr. reports.

Deputies were at Margaret R. Thayer’s home on Parslow Road in the hamlet of Cattown, near Fly Creek, rechecking areas that have been previously searched by foot and with the help of K9s, Devlin said.

Foul play is not suspected at this time, the investigation is continuing, according to the sheriff.

Ms. Thayer, who was described as “vulnerable,”  was last seen on March 1, the day before a major snow storm hit the area, but was not reported missing until March 6. The heavy snows during March hampered the search.

Devlin thanks the state police K9 division and state forest rangers for their help in the investigation.

Coroner Mike Fox of Cherry Valley has been assigned the case.
