IN MEMORIAM: Nancy Spaziani, 64; Loved Beatles, Played Guitar
ONEONTA – Nancy L. Spaziani, 64, of Stamford, an Oneonta native who loved The Beatles and played guitar in a band in the 1980s with her husband and son, died Thursday, June 5, 2014.
She was born in Oneonta on May 14, 1950, to Raymond and Myrtie (Snape) Swift, and graduated from Oneonta High School in 1968.
She married her high school sweetheart, Marc Spaziani, in 1969 and was a devoted mother and wife, raising her two children as a stay-at-home mom. Later in her life she met Paul Richter and he was her loving life-long partner.
Nancy encouraged her children’s musical endeavors, scrimping to buy instruments, carting her children and band mates to marching band and school concerts in her little Volkswagen Beetle, and having band practice in her basement, no matter how loud and screechy.
She also loved to fish, which started when she was a little girl by going with her father, and was an avid berry picker who loved being outside.
Survivors include her son, Marc, and his children, Amelia and Mitchell, and his partner Denise Erbe, and her son, Zach; her daughter, Stacy Naragon and her children Isabella, Sophia and Julianna, as well as her lifelong partner, Paul Richter and his daughter, Patricia Weidler and her children, Russell and Jessica.
Also, her sisters, Velma Carnicelli (Joseph) and Marjorie Holling; her nieces and nephews, including: Gina Morat, Karen Carnicelli, Brian and Kelli Holling, Stephanie and Kristina Spaziani, and Christopher and Macrina Spaziani.
She was predeceased by her parents.

A service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, which is handling the arrangements.
