New Hotel’s SEQRA Application
Review By Village Board Tonight
COOPERSTOWN – The Village Board meets at 5:30 this evening at 22 Main (enter through Fair Street side) to review the SEQRA application on a 22-room hotel proposed for 28 Railroad Ave.
SEQRA, the state Environmental Quality Review Act, requires the trustees to review a checklist of environmental, traffic and other possible impacts of the project, proposed by Perry Ferrara, owner of the Heroes of Baseball Wax Museum.
If the trustees can then issue a “negative declaration,” the project passes SEQRA muster. Any impacts must be ameliorated as the concept moves forward.
Ferrara is proposing the hotel in the former hops-storage barn at Railroad and Glen avenues, the former Agway. The building was bought in 2009 by Mike Manno, who had previously renovated 21 Railroad into an office building. However, it has remained vacant since the renovations were completed.
