FLY CREEK – It now appears that the Otsego Town Board, when it meets this evening, will back away from the idea of seeking to create a town park at Brookwood Gardens, according to Town Supervisor Anne Geddes-Atwell.

Atwell said Harry Levine, chairman of the Otsego Land Trust board, has been meeting with town board members in recent days, two at a time, as permitted under the state’s Open Meetings Law, advising them that, for now at least, the RFP issues by the Land Trust only applies to Brookwood’s southern 11 acres.

The town board, meeting Sept. 9, had concluded it would make a proposal for the full 22 acres.

Regardless, the town board meeting proceed with its meeting at 5 p.m. today in the town hall in Fly Creek.  The supervisor said she has asked Town Board member Bennett Sandler to give a report on the conversations with Levine and the status of the town’s plans.

Messages are in to Levine, Sandler and Land Trust Executive Director Virginia Kennedy for clarification.
