IN MEMORIAM: Frank Malzone, 85; Major Leaguer Got Start In Oneonta ONEONTA – Frank Malzone, 85, who got his start with the Oneonta Red Sox and became a six-time All-Star third baseman for the Boston Red Sox, died Tuesday at his home in Needham, Mass. IN MEMORIAM: Hebert Siems, USAF Veteran ONEONTA – Herbert Siems, an Air Force veteran, passed away on Tuesday, Dece. 29, 2015, at the state Veterans Home in Oxford. The son of Grete (Ristig) and Carl Siems, he was born in The Bronx, and graduated from Christopher Columbus High School there in 1947.
