Pastor Jeff McLallen, 74;

Pastor Jeff McLalllen

SOUTH EDMESTON – Pastor John “Jeff” Fritz McLallen, 74, pastor of South Edmeston Community Church for the past 23 years, went home to be with the Lord on Monday Oct. 1, 2018, at his home here.

Jeff was born on June 19, 1944 in Phoenix, Ariz., the son of the late Clarence and Ruth Schoonover McLallen.

Jeff was a graduate of East High School in Rochester, Roberts Wesleyan College in the Rochester suburb of North Chili, and Asbury Seminaries in Wilmore, Ky.

Before South Edmeston, he served as pastor of the Free Methodist Church in Salamanca and Dansville.

Over the years he  worked for the Delco Company in Rochester, Houseneck Towing Service in Batavia, UPS in Kentucky, and Ladonis Appliances in Berwick, Pa.

A member of the Jail Ministry of Otsego County, he provided Bible study opportunities at the county jail and the Chase Nursing Home, New Berlin.  In Berwick, Pa., he served on the board of Youth for Christ and enjoyed delivering the Press Enterprise newspaper.

He is survived by his wife Carol McLallen of South Edmeston, his sons Peter (Nicola) McLallen and their children Nathan, John, and Lia; Aaron (Mariela) McLallen and their son Julian; Timothy (Katrina) McLallen and their son Liam; and Andrew McLallen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by brothers Keith and Roger McLallen, and a granddaughter Elise McLallen.

Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5,  at Delker & Terry Funeral Home, 30 South St., Edmeston.   The funeral is at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at at the South Edmeston Community Church. Interment will follow in Gazlay Cemetery.
