Pitching powers Milford past Morris in baseball

Milford reliever Jacob Burkhart celebrates Wednesday, May 19, after striking out the side against Morris in the top of the seventh inning of the Wildcats’ win. (Cheryl Clough).

Junior pitcher Martin Thorsland carried the pitching load for the Wildcats going six innings in Milford’s 8-4 win over visiting Morris on Wednesday, May 19, in a Tri-Valley League baseball game.

Jacob Burkhart relieved Thorsland and struck out the side in the top of the seventh to preserve the win for Milford.

Thorsland tripled and Wildcat teammate Michael Virtell doubled to lead the Milford offense.

The Wildcats improved to 3-1 in Tri-Valley League play with the win. Milford will host Schenevus at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 22, in Wilber Park in Milford.

Morris will host Edmeston at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, May 20.
