Property Owners To Be Briefed

On Citywide Oneonta Assessment

ONEONTA – City Assessor Richard Maxwell will brief city property owners on the upcoming reassessment at an informational meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, in the Oneonta Middle School cafeteria.

Common Council has contracted with the appraisal firm Emminger, Newton, Pigeon & Magyar, Buffalo, to the the work.

Maxwell will be joined byk ENPM representatives in explaining why the city is reassessing, the timeline, how values are determined and when to expect preliminary assessments. Questions will be entertained.

Property inventory surveys have been mailed to property owners. For 12 months beginning in May, ENPM will conduct exterior inspections of all parcels, and analyze sales and property-value trends, before valuing individual properties.

Interior inspections will be attempted, but only with the owner’s permission.
