Ramsaran Tries To Bribe Guard
To Help Him Escape, Police Say
NORWICH – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office today arrested Ganesh “Remy” Ramsaran, saying he offered a prison guard $100,000 to help him escape from the county jail.
Ramsaran, who is awaiting sentencing after being found guilty in September of murdering his wife, now faces an additional charge of bribery, second degree, a Class C felony, deputies said.
As soon as Ramsaran made the offer, the prison guard notified his superior, and the district attorney’s office was called in to help with the investigation.
Ramsaran was arraigned later in the day in Norwich town court, and sent back to jail on $1 million cash bail or $2.5 million property bond
