IN MEMORIAM: Raymond D. Greising, 77;
Farmed, Worked For Thering Equipment
BURLINGTON FLATS – Raymond D. Greising, 77, who spent his career in farming and the farm-equipment sector, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at his home.
Ray was born on Dec. 7, 1940, in Ulsterville, Ulster County, on the family farm. He was the son of the late Joseph and Emily LeMaire Greising.
Ray came to the area from Pine Bush in the spring of 1974. For over three decades, he operated his dairy farm in Burlington Flats. After selling the farm, he worked with Thering Sales & Service of Oneonta, selling supplies to dairy farmers throughout Central New York and the Southern Tier. In addition, he drove medical transport for A&D taxi in Oneonta.
Ray loved his family, and took any opportunity to attend school or sporting events to watch his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed dirt-track racing at the Utica/Rome speedway, or Afton where his grandson AJ raced.
He was a devoted member of the Garrattsville Presbyterian Church, and routinely could be found helping to care for the building.
In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by son Raymond Joseph Greising in 1973, and three brothers, Joseph, Ernie, and John.
Ray is survived by his wife, Lois M. Lammers Greising of Burlington Flats; sons Thomas (Laura) Digsby of Augusta, Ga., James (Maggie) Digsby of Palm Coast, Fla., Alan (Mindy) Digsby of Burlington Flats, and Glenn (Marty) Digsby of Dade City, Fla.; daughters Loraine Lester (Bill Maricle) of Smyrna, Del., and Joan (Rick) Loeffler of South New Berlin; Foreign Exchange “daughter” Mabel Inda (Iontxo) of Pamplona, Spain, a brother Frank Greising of Maine, a sister Mary Wilson of Oneonta; grandchildren Thomas, Chris, Michelle, Robert, Jeff, Brian, LeeAnn, Andy, AJ, Shannon, Ashton, Brennan, Sam; 22 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, and nephews. Also surviving are special friends Rich and Linda Shafer, and Theresa and Skip Paulson.
Calling hours will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday Jan. 23, at Delker & Terry Funeral Home, 30 South St., Edmeston. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 24, at the Garrattsville Presbyterian Church, 947 County Highway 16, Garrattsville, with Rev. Mark Piedmonte officiating. Interment will be in Walkill, Orange County, at a later date. Donations may be made to the Garrattsville Presbyterian Church in loving memory of Ray.

Emily LeMaire Greising was my grandfathers sisiter. (Joseph Anthony LeMaire) and my dads aunts (Joseph Fred LeMaire) my name is John LeMaire. I remember visiting uncle Joe And aunt M on the dairy farm in the late sixties. Sorry to see Ray passed away.
