Registration Doubles

At Fatty Bumppo Race

The second annual Fatty Bumppo Fat Tire Race doubled the registration over 2016, according to The Clark Sports Center’s Doug McCoy.    Above, Dennis Savoie of Cooperstown, left – with camera mounted to his helmet – was among the local participants in the 10K event.   There was also a 5K event this morning at the second running of one of the Cooperstown Winter Carnival’s newest events.  In right photo, John Ders of South Otselic, right, who is 67 and has been participating in the sport for three years, chats with Craig Goetzmann of Skaneateles, waiting for  the race to begin.  (Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)

Killer Knapp Dies In Prison; Guilty In SUNY Coed’s Death ONEONTA – Ricky Knapp, the man convicted of the 1977 death of SUNY Oneonta student, has died in Mohawk Correctional Facility, according to prison records. Knapp, 66, died March 8, having served 40 years of a 25-to-life sentence for a 1978 manslaughter conviction in the death of 18-year-old Linda Velzy, a SUNY student from Long Island. According to reports, Velzy was last seen Dec. 9 1977, hitchhiking in downtown Oneonta.…
