Republican, Democratic Primary Races
For Hartwick Town Supervisor Are Tied
COOPERSTOWN – It’s likely never happened in Otsego County before – or anywhere else in the country for that matter.
After adding in absentee ballots, the county Board of Elections announced today that both Republican and Democratic primaries for Hartwick town supervisor are tied.
Incumbent David Butler and challenger Bob O’Brien, the Hartwick fire chief, are tied 53-53 for the Republican nomination. Juli Sharratt, who was running for the Democratic nomination, received five votes.
And in the Democratic primary, Town Board member Juli Sharratt and O’Brien, who cross-filed are also tied for the supervisor nomination, 34-34. Butler, who also ran for the Democratic nod, received 12 votes.
In the Sept. 10 primary, both the Republican and Democratic contenders were separated by just one vote, so no winners were declared.
Any tie votes will be decided by the respective town committees, according to Michael Henrici, Democratic deputy commission of elections.
