The Heart of Baseball

Hall of Famer Rod Carew, former first baseman for the Minnesota Twins and Anaheim Angels, shows of the Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) he had in his body during last year’s Baseball Hall of Fame Induction ceremony, having suffered a heart attack in 2015. This year, however, he is back with a new heart, courtesy of former Baltimore Ravens tight end Konrad Reuland. who died of a brain aneurysm on Nov. 28, 2016. Carew, alongside Dr. Merle Myerson, director of Bassett Hospital’s Preventive Cardiology Program, were at the Clark Sports Center this morning to speak about Heart of 29, his educational program about heart health.
