MORRIS – Ruthann P. Johnson, 60, former Fly Creek and Morris postmaster, passed away on Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at her home with her loving family by her side.

Ruthann was born in Bay Shore, L.I., the daughter of Vittorio and Ruth (Kypta) Perri. She grew up in Brentwood and attended SUNY Oneonta, later moving Upstate.

She worked for the Postal Service for 25 years until retiring from her postmaster posts in 2014.

Ruthann married Gary Johnson on July 18, 2005, in the United Methodist Church of Morris.

She was very active, enjoying zumba, yoga, walking, kayaking, music and dancing. She also enjoyed meeting with her friends to play cards and mahjong.

She was known as an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends. She loved to travel, visiting France in April, Alaska in June and Disney World in August.

Above all Ruthann loved her family, friends and dogs  Tyler and JoJo.

In addition to her husband Gary, she is survived by children Jeffrey (Chen) Gilbert, Lindsay (Cory) Daniels, Monica (Dale) Johnson, David (Jennifer) Johnson, Michael (Emily) Johnson and Jessica (Scott) Eastman; her mother Ruth Perri; her brother William (Deborah) Perri and sister Janet (Edward) Lipinsky; grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ruthann is predeceased by her father Vittorio Perri.

Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at the United Methodist Church in Morris, with Pastor Becky Parry officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillington Cemetery in Morris.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Otsego County SPCA in Cooperstown.
