Seward Teaches Poli-Sci
Class At His Alma Mater
ONEONTA – State Sen. Jim Seward, R-Milford, is teaching where he once learned.
The senator, who received his degree from Hartwick College in 1973 and an honorary doctor of laws degree in 1999, has returned to his alma mater this semester as an adjunct professor of political science.
Seward is teaching “New York State Politics & Policy” for 20 students, drawing on three decades of experience in the state Senate. Prior to that, he served as an aide to state representatives, and was the youngest chairman of the county Republican Committee.
When college President Margaret Drugovich invited him to teach a course, “I couldn’t say yes fast enough,” said Seward. He is also keeping office hours on campus once a week.
