Delaware-Otsego Soccer Board to Train Officials
ONEONTA—The Delaware-Otsego Soccer Board will hold classes for new officials for the upcoming fall high school season. They will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11 in Morris Hall, SUNY Oneonta, and continue through August 1. Otego Defeats Union-Endicott
OTEGO—The Otego Retrievers rode a five-run fifth inning to beat Union-Endicott 5-1 in American Legion play on Thursday, June 22. Braeden Johnson struck out 12 over the first six innings while walking six. Garrett Backus went 1-2-3 pitching in the seventh inning and also hit a triple and an RBI. Xander Johnson hit two RBI. The Union-Endicott batters combined for four hits but were unable to cash in after a single run in the first inning.
Carr Leads Green Wave to Road Win
ONEONTA—Brady Carr struck out five batters in five innings, went three-four-four at the plate and hit his first career home run to lead the American Legion league Oneonta Green Wave to a victory over Hillcrest on Thursday, June 22. Oneonta came back from an early 3-0 deficit to win 13-5, including five runs in the top of the ninth. Carr had three hits overall, scored three times and batted in three runs. Owen Burnsworth and Britten Zeh each batted in two runs.
Oneonta No-Hits Johnson City
ONEONTA—Asa Dugan led the Oneonta Green Wave pitching squad as it threw a combined no-hitter against Johnson City in an American Legion District 6 league game on Monday, June 19. Dugan threw 6.1 innings, striking out seven but walking six. Oneonta won 5-0, moving to 2-4 for the season and 2-0 in-league. They will host Vestal at 6 p.m. at Oneonta High School on Wednesday, June 21.
Outlaws Fall to Lumberjacks
ONEONTA—The Oneonta Outlaws dropped a game against the Boonville Lumberjacks on the road on Thursday, June 22. Oneonta took a 5-4 lead off five runs in the fifth inning, but Boonville rallied and finished with a 9-6 victory. Anthony Aleman struck out six batters in three innings for the Outlaws. Logan Haskell hit a double and two RBI, and Logan Waldschmidt hit a solo home run. Oneonta moved to 6-8 for the season.
