1980 SLAYING STILL UNSOLVED Oneontan’s Mystery Death Opens ‘Cold Case Tuesday’ ONEONTA – On Nov. 9, 1980, Barry G. Marquart, an Oneonta native, was found dead in the Chenango River with his watch and wallet missing and injuries to his head and face. Now, State Police are looking for new leads in his case with their “Cold Case Tuesday” initiative, which seeks new leads on old cases through the department’s Facebook page. Man Charged In Threat, Menacing In Plainfield PLAINFIELD – A Rome man was arrested in the early morning hours after threatening to kill a Plainfield resident and breaking into her home in Otsego County’s Northwest Corner while her children were present.
