Thursday Night Vigil For Dante Crump,
Hartwick Senior Who Died In Car Crash
ONEONTA – A candlelight vigil for Dante Crump, the Hartwick College football player who died in a car crash just days before the semester started, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3 on the college’s Frisbee Field.
His favorite music will be played, and college President Margaret Drugovich, as well as friends, coaches and teachers, will say a few words in his memory. People will then have the opportunity to share their memories, draw and write tributes in chalk on the sidewalks and sign a card for his family.
According to Police Chief Joseph Sinagra of the Saugerties Police Department, Crump, 22, along with Adam McQueen, 22, of Ulster Park, Kaireem Meeks Jr., 24, of Kingston and Jante Clark, 26, of Kingston, was killed Wednesday, Aug. 26 when the car he was riding in failed to negotiate a turn and slid over a 110 foot embankment, crashing into a house and coming to a stop upside down. The driver, Meredith McSpirit, 19, remains hospitalized with a spinal cord injury.
