Tobacco Settlement May Send
Welcomed Dollars To Otsego
COOPERSTOWN – County Treasurer Dan Crowell is reporting “a little good news for the budget” this morning:
The Wall Street Journal reports New York State and Big Tobacco have reached an agreement on releasing another $550 million in the tobacco settlement.
According to The Journal, half will go to the state, one quarter to New York City, and the final quarter – about $137 million – will be divided among the state’s 62 counties.
