IN MEMORIAM: Virginia Weaver, 86;
Oneonta Native Longtime Nurse’s Aide
SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Oneonta native Virginia Arlene Weaver, 86, a nurse’s aide for many years, passed away peacefully on Nov. 14, 2016, at her home in South New Berlin, surrounded by her family.
Virginia was born on Aug. 5, 1930, in Oneonta, the daughter of Edward John and Amy Ethel Bugbee. She was raised in Oneonta and Laurens, attending Oneonta schools.
On July 23, 1949, she married Donald Earl Weaver, her husband of 67 years.
She was employed as a nurse aid at Chase Nursing Home for 15 years and later worked for Quality Care Home Care as a private duty aid taking care of people in their homes.
In 1979, she joined the South New Berlin Fire Department serving in the rescue squad for 21 years as well as serving in the auxiliary and fire police.
In addition to her husband Donald, Virginia is survived by her children, James and Terri Weaver, Donna and Dale Brooker, Carol Weaver and Judy and Don Hendrickson, all of South New Berlin, Rose Weaver and Mark Beebe of Oxford and Sharon and Ryan Cook of New Berlin, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Thelma Delello and Marjorie Donlin, and brother Bruce Bugbee.
The funeral will be a noon Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Dakin Funeral Home of New Berlin, with Pastor Robert Decker of the South New Berlin Baptist Church officiating. Calling hours will be 11 a.m.-noon prior to the service.
The interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery, South New Berlin.
